Kit sticks out like a sore thumb, almost entirely because of the way he dresses. Raised exclusively in wizarding circles, his wardrobe is comprised of nothing but fine Victorian suits, overcoats, cravats and top hats. It's a level of eccentricity that he has no interest in toning down for the sake of muggles.
Aside from his fashion sense, Kit has a warm, expressive face, long nose and bright smile. His hair is a wild mop of shiny dark curls he rarely bothers to tame. Kit had starry-eyed dreams of how helpful he'd be as a Seer in the Auror field. Unfortunately, that hasn't exactly worked out for him, having never given a second prophecy prior to Operation Crowbar. Proud and stubborn, Kit refused to admit defeat, and buckled down in school. Ten years later, he's a widely respected Auror, and thinks this must be evidence of a good decision. He's objectively successful, so why is he so unhappy?

Luckily, Kit's more than just his Sight. He delights in solving the mysteries that come across his desk, and lives to work rather than works to live. He stays long hours in the office doing through documents and evidence, all with a smile on his face. Usually. Sometimes that smile is a little forced, or outright missing.
While Kit has an enviable work ethic and lot of energy, he's very easily overwhelmed, and his manic approach to his responsibilities sometimes has him tearing out his hair. He works way too much overtime, and completely inhabits every assignment until he makes it to the end, which may or may not be the one superiors were hoping for. He's hard working but unpredictable. One might get the impression that he doesn't have much going on outside of his job, and one might be right.

Kit is somewhat estranged from his family, much to their chagrin. They find his refusal to come to holiday parties exasperating, and really hoped he'd get past this faux-rebellious phase years ago. EARLY LIFE
Kit's family had more than enough money to spoil and shelter him. He never wanted for anything. Well, besides the respect of his parents, that is. A sensitive, dreamy child, he was more interested in Divination and fantasy than politics and law. The rift between him and his family grew with each passing year until they arrived at a true impasse that neither party was interested in patching up.

A sensitive, dreamy child, he was more interested in Divination and fantasy than politics and law. The rift between him and his family grew with each passing year until they arrived at a true impasse that neither party was interested in patching up.
CAREER HISTORY
Kit had his first prophecy at 18, predicting a disaster that was about to befall a magical school a couple states over. While it wasn't enough to avert it entirely, the prophecy was credited with saving dozens of lives. Kit was validated in his passions, and immediately declared he a) would be and Auror, and b) was emancipating himself from his family. His family, on the other hand, were finally warming up to Kit interest in divination. He'd proved himself as a real Seer, and he was accepted into the prestigious Oddtree.
But Kit stubbornly refused to come back to their wealthy embrace, even though they made it clear they wanted him to return. Ever since then, Kit began to give people the impression he had been disowned when that was far from the truth. After a childhood of feeling like a joke, he wanted to become independent and self-sufficient. Still, he had access to a very sizable bank account and trust fund. He only touched it when things were dire, and every time he dipped into it he felt a deep shame.
Regardless, he excelled at Oddtree, and was known for his wit and charm, and a knack for bending magic to his will with seemingly little effort. Kit could adjust a spell on the spot, and flew through his classes. Much to his disappointment, though, his skills as a Seer were lacking. He could divine a thing here and there, but he just kept waiting for his next prophecy, which never came.
It was during his first assignment in Chicago that he met Desdemona Moore. At first it was all sparks. They were both smart, driven and curious. It seemed like a true union of two geniuses, but the foundation of their relationship was rotten. Des fundamentally believed that Divination was bullshit, and Kit thought she wasted her time over-planning things, and was dismissive of her struggles with intuitive magic. They stayed together long enough to get engaged... but before they could go through with it, they both admitted this it wasn't working. The engagement was called off, mutual but a huge blow to Kit's sense of self.
Kit took a job far away from Desdemona (oh, she found someone else? she's married? he's so happy for her) in New York. Kit continued to turn heads both for his eccentricities and his skill as a detective. He was regarded as a strange solution to throw at strange problems. An Auror who always brought home an answer, even if it wasn't the answer to the question you asked. Despite being perceived as a wild card, Kit fell into a boring routine. He could feel the existential crisis sneaking up on him when he was invited to join Operation Crowbar. What a lovely distraction from his dissatisfaction!
